2.History, Geography  and  Socio  Economic  development  of  Himachal  Pradesh (30 Questions)

    • Topic: Initiatives taken by HP government in collaboration with world agencies & Central government

  • Miscellaneous topics like culture, society & current affairs of HP etc Though, the topics are not mentioned separately in the syllabus yet, the commission used to ask questions from these areas in both the prelims and mains. You can put these topics somewhere in  Socio  Economic  development of HP, Geography of HP  & current events of national importance

    • Topic : Ancient Tribes & Fairs and Festivals of HP

    • Source: 'The Wonderland Himachal Pradesh' by Jagmohan Balokhra or  'Himachal Pradesh : Ek Bahuayaami Parichay' by Rajender Attri

  • Modern  History  (From  1857  onwards)

    • Though they have mentioned 'Modern History' from 1857 onwards yet they use to ask questions before 1857, please be beware of that. I'll also try to cover important events of Modern History before 1857 in coming mocks for which schedule will be posted later.
    • Important Acts( 1858, 1861, 1892, 1909, 1919, 1935, 1947 etc.), Indian National Congress & Revolt of 1857
    • Source: for important acts and their provision, you can read the first chapter of 'Indian Polity' by M Laxmikant and for Indian National Congress & Revolt of 1857 you can read Spectrum Publications' 'History of Modern India' by Rajiv Ahir. For basic understanding of History of Modern India, you can also study 8th Class NCERT both the parts 'History Our Past-III' (Part-1 & 2)

4.Indian  culture,  Indian  Polity,  Indian  Economy,  Geography  of  India  and  teachings  of Mahatma  Gandhi

    • This part covers a huge syllabus, If we try to cover all topics, it will take 3-4 months, thus in this part investment is more and profit seems less. So I think, one should play here smartly, because , most of the questions which are asked from this part are of easy to moderate level. यहा पर आप 'Lucent & Arihant' जैसी books से भी सन्तुष्टि कर  सकते हो. whereas,  from HP and modern indian History part, the HPPSC asks mostly tough questions. Prior to 2012 they used to ask difficult questions on teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and they were more in numbers, but if we see 2014 paper, questions asked on Gandhian thoughts were less in number and could be solved even with some little common sense.  However for Teaching of Mahatma Gandhi, you can study R Gupta's 'Gandhian Thoughts'( This is a pocket size book, and can be covered within 2-3 days. Considering vastness of syllabus of this part, I'll not be able to cover this part topic wise. So  I'll pick random questions from this part.
